Forbidden Timber Ltd. is seeking a versatile, experienced forestry professional to join our coastal operations team in a hybrid leadership and technical role. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, leads by example, and brings strong experience in layout, cruising, and field supervision.

What You’ll Do
-
Lead and oversee field crews and daily forestry operations in a safe and efficient manner

Execute and supervise cutblock and road layout (conventional and helicopter-based)
-
Conduct and manage timber cruising operations, including QC and data integrity
-
Perform timber reconnaissance, traversing, and boundary layout
-
Identify species, grades, volumes, and defects (rot, shake, sweep, breakage)
-
Support forest development activities, including site plans and harvest planning inputs
-
Coordinate with planners, engineers, and operations teams to ensure project success
-
Ensure compliance with BC Coastal Log Grading Rules, safety standards, and environmental regulations
-
Mentor junior staff and foster a strong safety-first culture
-
Maintain accurate field data using GPS, GIS, and cruising software
-
Adapt to dynamic coastal conditions and support a wide range of forestry activities

What You Bring
-
5+ years of BC coastal forestry experience in cruising, layout, and/or supervision
-
Eligible for or registered as RFT, ATC or ASFIT with FPBC (strong asset)

Strong working knowledge of:

BC Coastal Log Grading Rules
-
Cutblock and road layout practices
-
BC Timber Cruising Manual guidelines and QC processes
-
CGNF Standards and Procedures for the Coast Forest Area

Proficiency with:

Enfor (CruiseMate, CompMate)
-
GPS collection / GIS tools (Arrow, ArcGIS or QGIS)

RoadEng
-
-
Proven leadership ability with strong organizational and decision-making skills
-
Physically fit and comfortable working in steep, rugged coastal terrain
-
Ability to work independently and lead teams in remote environments
-
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
-
Basic First Aid with Transportation Endorsement (preferred)

Strong communication skills and a commitment to quality, safety, and stewardship

Top-of-market hourly wage: $38 – $52/hour, with flexibility to exceed for high-performing coastal candidates
