Silviculture Forester

Overview

Based out of our Comox Valley office
-
Develop and execute silviculture plans, including site preparation, planting programs, spacing, brushing, and thinning operations.

Conduct field assessments and surveys to monitor forest regeneration and growth performance.

Oversee contractors and field crews to ensure high-quality silviculture treatments and adherence to safety regulations.

Ensure compliance with BC forestry regulations, industry standards, and certification requirements.

Utilize ArcGIS, Phoenix, RESULTS and other forestry software for data analysis, reporting, and planning.

Collaborate with government agencies, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders on forestry initiatives.

Prepare reports, budgets, and funding applications related to silviculture activities.
-
Support research and innovation in silviculture practices to improve forest resilience and productivity.
-
Assist with other duties where required.

Qualifications
-
Registered, or with the ability to register, with the FPBC as a Registered Professional Forester
-
3-5 years of previous experience in related work (Preference given to those with BC Coastal Forestry experience)

Working knowledge of silviculture prescriptions

Accredited Silviculture Surveyor Certification

Ability to create and manage budgets and proformas.

Physically fit and capable of working in coastal terrain

Willing to work in remote areas

Enjoy learning and challenging themselves

Must be organized

Excellent communication skills

Proven leadership abilities

Hold a valid class 5 Driver's License

Hold a valid Basic First Aid with transport endorsement (preferred)
