Field Supervisors
and Timber Cruisers

Overview

  • Based out of our Comox or Nanaimo locations

  • Lead and oversee forestry engineering projects, including road construction, erosion control, and harvest planning.

  • Develop and implement innovative forestry planning strategies to improve sustainability within forest management area.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior technicians, foresters, and other team members.

  • Ensure compliance with regulations related to forest engineering, timber harvesting, and land conservation.

  • Prepare reports, project plans, budgets and proformas, and environmental impact assessments.

  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure socioeconomic impacts are managed across the land base.

Qualifications

 

  • Registered, or ability to be registered, with the FPBC as an RFT or ATC.

  • At least 5 years of previous experience in related work (Preference given to those with BC Coastal Forestry experience)

  • Experience with conducting fieldwork such as conventional and helicopter cut block layout and Timber Cruising.

  • Experience with QGIS, RoadEng, Enfor (CruiseMate, CompMate for Cruiser)

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team​

  • Physically fit and capable of working in coastal terrain

  • Flexible work schedule with a mix of field and office work

  • Willing to work in remote areas 

  • Enjoy learning and challenging themselves

  • Must be organized

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Hold a valid class 5 Driver's License 

  • Hold a valid Basic First Aid with transport endorsement (preferred)

  • Embrace safety and lead by example

  • Believe in the benefits of land stewardship
