Forbidden Timber Ltd. is seeking an experienced Planning Forester to support and lead forest planning initiatives across our coastal operations. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about sustainable forest management on the BC Coast.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement forest management plans that balance sustainability, operational efficiency, and long-term value

  • Lead or contribute to Site Plans, Forest Stewardship Plans (FSPs), and Forest Landscape Plans (FLPs)

  • Conduct and oversee forest inventories and ecological assessments, including species composition, growth, and forest health

  • Analyze forestry and environmental data to support planning decisions and identify risks and opportunities

  • Collaborate with internal teams, First Nations, and stakeholders to align plans with provincial and federal regulations

  • Integrate silviculture, habitat management, and watershed protection into planning strategies

  • Monitor implementation of plans and adapt based on changing forest conditions, market demands, and regulatory updates

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to wildfire, pests, forest health, and climate change

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and development of project proformas

What You Bring

  • Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with FPBC, or eligible for registration

  • 5+ years of relevant forestry experience, with strong preference for BC Coastal experience

  • Proven experience developing site plans and contributing to FSPs or FLPs

  • Proficiency with:

    • ArcGIS

    • ForestOps

    • Phoenix

  • Working knowledge of silviculture systems and RESULTS (preferred)

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills

  • Experience managing budgets and financial projections

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Physically fit and comfortable working in coastal and remote environments

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Occupational First Aid with Transportation Endorsement (preferred)

  • Strong, professional communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders

  • Commitment to safety, stewardship, and continuous improvement

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Highly competitive salary: $115,000 – $130,000+ annually, with flexibility to exceed for senior coastal candidates
